This past weekend, Team 537 hosted the first ever Charger Robotics Invitational. The two day event featured eight teams from around the area competing in the FIRST based game, Overdrive, with a few twists. The winning alliance, including Team 537, 1675 The Ulitimate Protection Squad, and 930 The Mukwonago BEARS, were all given trophies to commemorate the event. Students and volunteers participated in a human competition where they completed tasks like the robots. To view video of the human competition, follow the link below.
Read more on this storyThis past weekend, the Chargers competed at the West Michigan Regional. On Friday, the team was recognized with the Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield, and Beyer's Entrepreneurship Award, the second of our competition year. This same award was also presented to us at the Milwaukee Regional last weekend. Congratulations to the students who all participated and contributed in the way to earning this award!
Concerning the actual competition, the team did well. 537 was picked to go onto the Quarter Finals by the 4th seeded teams in the last picking. The Martians and More Martians chose our team to go on with them, just as they had done last year at the Buckeye Regional Competition; Martian Sandwhich part Two! Our alliance won the Quarterfinal Match against the 5th seeded alliance, and went on to compete against the 1st seed, which included 4 time world champion, Team Hammond, 71. Our alliance defeated the opponent in the first match, but were not so lucky in the second and third.
With all this in mind, Team 537 did not qualify for the Atlanta Championships this year. Updates will be posted of Post-Season activities yet to come. Keep checking your emails; updates are being sent frequently.
Congratulations, Team 537! Thanks for a great competition season!
